This project won the 2017 HIA Tasmanian Renovation/Addition Project Award in the $201,000 – $400,000 category.
This architecturally designed home has been renovated from top to bottom. The project has transformed this small rundown 1920s weatherboard house into a beautiful contemporary 3 bedroom family home.
This project entailed the removal of every internal wall whilst retaining the primary shell of the existing dwelling, and extending out back to provide space for a spectacular kitchen, bathroom, and alfresco entertaining area.
The house includes a new open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen features Tas Oak bench tops, built-in espresso machine, mirror splash back, fully integrated fridge/freezer; dishwasher and microwave, electric panel lift cupboards, induction cooktop, matt black zippy tap to provide instant boiling and chilled filtered water, black sink, and custom made joinery.
Leading outside from the kitchen through double glazed stacking doors is a stunning large outdoor deck covered by an opening/closing louve roof system pergola.
The entire house has been insulated, new double glazed windows fitted, insulating honeycomb blinds throughout, along with a new heat pump system to provide additional comfort. The flooring in the entry, kitchen, bathroom and dining consists of polished concrete with adjustable underfloor heating making this a warm inviting home.
The home also features a large built-in custom made Tas Oak bookcase, built-ins, Tas Oak skirtings; architraves and window/door surrounds, a solid handmade Tas Oak front door, and handmade front and black steel door handles.
